  • Safeway (Idaho Springs): Located just 15 minutes down the canyon, this is the best full-service supermarket in the area. We recommend stopping here on your way up the mountain to grab groceries, meat, produce, and supplies for your stay.

  • Peak-to-Peak Market & Liquors (Black Hawk): Located right down the road on Hwy 119, this convenience market is perfect for quick runs to pick up ice, basic pantry sundries, milk, snacks, beer, and wine without leaving town.
  • ⭐️ Bravo Italiano Caffè 42 (Central City): Located right on Eureka Street, this hidden gem is hands-down the best Italian specialty market you will find in Colorado. Owner Steve offers guided tastings of imported extra virgin olive oils, aged balsamic vinegars, artisanal cheeses, and homemade pestos. Pick up imported pastas and sauces for a cozy Italian dinner at the house, or grab a fresh espresso in the mornings! The coffee we provide is Lavazza and we get it here. 
  • ⭐️Eureka Street Popcorn (Central City): Located right across the street from the historic Central City Opera House in the second-oldest building in town, this charming local shop pops gourmet, small-batch popcorn fresh daily. Founded by two local opera veterans, it features dozens of creative sweet and savory flavors—from classic Chicago Mix and Ballpark Caramel to unique picks like Garlic Parm, Chili Lime, Heath Bar Crunch, and S'mores. It’s an absolute must-visit, family-friendly snack stop while strolling through historic downtown Eureka Street or grabbing a treat before a summer performance!
  • Black Hawk Bean & Cream / The B&C (Black Hawk): The ultimate local spot for morning coffee, half-pound breakfast burritos, made-to-order deli sandwiches, and delicious all-natural ice cream (Lik's Ice Cream) for the kids.
  • ⭐️ Mountain Moonshine (Idaho Springs): Don't let the storefront fool you—this fully-stocked liquor and wine store is way bigger than it looks from the outside! It is the perfect stop on your way up the canyon to stock up on craft beers, local Colorado spirits, hard seltzers, and a surprisingly vast selection of fine wines to enjoy back at the house.

  • ⭐️ 🏠 Monte Lobo Tacos y Tequila (Central City): Housed in the historic Doc Holliday building on Main Street, Monte Lobo is an absolute favorite for families. Enjoy mouthwatering Mexican street tacos, fresh elote, and top-shelf margaritas while the kids play in their huge dedicated arcade room featuring Pac-Man, Skee-Ball, and racing games.
  • ⭐️ 🏠 JKQ BBQ & Grill (Black Hawk): Located on Gregory Street in the historic Crook's Palace, JKQ BBQ dishes out crowd-pleasing, authentic Memphis-style low-and-slow smoked barbecue. Bring the whole family to enjoy 14-hour smoked brisket, pulled pork, smoked kielbasa, and green chile mac 'n cheese with plenty of outdoor patio seating.
  • ⭐️ 🏠 Copper Kitchen Pizzeria (Black Hawk): Located on Gregory Street in Black Hawk’s historic HARD District, this mom-and-pop pizza joint serves incredible stone-hearth, New York-style wood-fired pizzas, pasta, wings, hoagies, and fresh-cut fries. With a clean outdoor deck, laid-back vibe, and gluten-free options, it’s a go-to local favorite for pizza night with the kids.
  • 🏠 Lan-Yap Cafe (Central City): Located right on Lawrence Street (430 Lawrence St) in downtown Central City, this cozy spot brings authentic New Orleans Cajun flavor and warm Southern hospitality to the Colorado Rockies. Derived from the French Creole word lagniappe (meaning "a little something extra"), Lan-Yap serves up family-friendly classics like shrimp and grits, jambalaya, vegetarian red beans and rice, hush puppies, and creative Cajun egg rolls filled with blackened shrimp or andouille sausage. Don't leave without grabbing warm, powdered-sugar-covered beignets and a cup of New Orleans chicory coffee!
  • Dostal Alley Brewpub (Central City): Known as Colorado's smallest casino, Dostal Alley is first and foremost a beloved local brewpub. While there are slot machines in the building, the dining area is welcoming to families looking to sit down for award-winning craft beer, fresh oven-baked pizzas, wings, and hot sandwiches. (Families should enter downstairs through the back door, via the parking lot.) 
  • Mid City Grill (Central City): Located right on Main Street, Century Casino features a dedicated, family-friendly street entrance leading directly into the Mid City Grill. This allows families with kids under 21 to comfortably walk in and enjoy classic American diner favorites, juicy burgers, and all-day breakfast specials without ever stepping foot on the casino floor!
